The arched window in the bedroom

The Couple's Week

We want time away together.

Seven nights with no one to answer to but each other.

Written for two people who want privacy without a resort around it. A house on a quiet street, a bedroom with the bay in the window, a bath, a balcony, and a Peninsula that provides the outings so you don't have to.

The rhythm alternates: a day out, a day close to home. Long lunches, one great drive, wine, sunsets on the Atlantic side, and evenings that end at your own table. Nothing needs to be booked before you arrive.

Day by day

One day out, one day in. Repeat.

Day1

Arrive together

Open the doors, pour something, look at the water.

Unpack, walk to the tidal pool to see where you are, and a first dinner either at home from a Kalk Bay shop or at a table in Simon's Town. The balcony after, with the harbour lights.

Turn it up: the coast walk to Fish Hoek and back, before dinner.

Day2

Kalk Bay and the pool

Small pleasures, in order.

A late breakfast in Kalk Bay, then the harbour and the shops, buying dinner as you go. Afternoon at the tidal pool or in the bath. Cook together with the doors open, or don't cook at all.

Turn it up: a surf lesson for two at Muizenberg after lunch.

Day3

Penguins and Simon's Town

A gentle day with a story in it.

Boulders Beach early, then coffee on Jubilee Square, the harbour and, if history is your thing, the museum. Lunch in town, and an afternoon at Glencairn Beach.

Turn it up: a kayak along the coast to the penguins instead of the drive.

Day4

Constantia

The slow wine day.

Twenty-five minutes over the mountain to Constantia. Choose one or two estates rather than five: a tasting, a long lunch under old trees, a spa afternoon if you want it. Home for sunset on the balcony.

Turn it up: add a walk in the Constantia greenbelt before lunch.

Day5

The great drive

Take the long way everywhere.

Noordhoek for a beach walk, Chapman's Peak with stops, Hout Bay for lunch. On the return, Cape Point Vineyards for a tasting and the Atlantic sunset. This is the day to save for clear weather.

Turn it up: a beach ride at Noordhoek at sunrise, before any of it.

Day6

The quiet one

A massage, a bath, a book each.

Nothing before noon. A massage at the Residence, the tidal pool, a late lunch in Simon's Town, and an afternoon that stays open. Dinner at home, the best bottle, the balcony until it gets cold.

Turn it up: a Silvermine walk in the morning, then the rest as written.

Day7

Last light

Do the favourite again.

The tidal pool one more time, a last long breakfast, and whichever day you liked most, in miniature. A final dinner in Kalk Bay, harbour side.

Turn it up: a dawn swim, then the coast road at first light.

For two. Activities are ideas, not bookings. When you enquire we put you in touch with the local operators we trust. Some experiences depend on weather and season.
